Future Cruises

without comments

We’ve made our bookings for 2010. Very early, obviously, which means that we’re foregoing the possibility of savings by booking at the last minute, but on the other hand we have been able to secure the cabins & dinner sittings we wanted.

First, we will be cruising on Ventura in late May/early June 2010. This will be a 14 night western Mediterranean cruise, calling at Lisbon, Palma, Barcelona, Cannes, Livorno, Civitavecchia & Gibraltar. Familiar stuff, but we want to do it from Southampton.

Then secondly we will be on a short cruise on Arcadia; just three nights, with calls at Zeebrugge and Le Havre. This is mainly so we can see what Arcadia is like. We would have liked to do the longer cruise on Arcadia but prices on her were about £200 higher per person.

Why P&O rather than Celebrity Eclipse (which will be based in Southampton in 2010)? Well, I think that in the end we’re a bit worried about on-board expenditure on the Celebrity ships – drink prices seem to be higher generally, there’s the infamous 15% gratuity charge, and in any case since n-board expenditure is in US$, it’s all at the mercy of the exchange rate. So we’ve chosen to stick with P&O. We very much enjoyed our cruise on Ventura in autumn 2008 and are happy to go back on her. Also I’m always interested in trying new ships, hence the short cruise on Arcadia.

Here are some links to previous blog posts about P&O and Celebrity, and a collection of posts about our Ventura cruise.
